The Philharmonic Gets Dressed Overview

"It is almost Friday night. Outside, the dark is getting darker," and here and there around the city ninety-two men and thirteen women are getting dressed to go to work. First they bathe and put on their underwear. Then they don special black-and-white apparel. Then when the one hundred and five people are completely ready, each takes a musical instrument and travels to midtown. There, at 8:30 tonight, they will work together: playing.

In these pages Karla Kuskin and Marc Simont combine their talents to give us a delightful and unusual inside view of one way an orchestra prepares.

Oliver Button Is a Sissy Overview

A little boy must come to terms with being teased and ostracized because he’d rather read books, paint pictures, and tap-dance than participate in sports. “There is a good balance between the simple text . . . and the expressive pictures . . . an attractive little book.”--School Library Journal

Make the same pioneer crafts that Laura did! In her beloved Little House books, Laura Ingalls Wilder tells of her pioneer childhood growing up on the frontier. Now, with MY LITTLE HOUSE CRAFTS BOOK, you can share a part of Laura's pioneer days by learning how to make the same things that she and her family made for their little homes on the frontier. Inside this book are easy, step-by-step instructions for 18 crafts taken straight from the pages of Laura's Little House books. All you need to get started are a few simple supplies, and you're on your way to making fun and useful pioneer crafts that you'll cherish forever.

Check Out Hair Wraps (Klutz) for $7.59

Hair Wraps (Klutz) Review

This is exaclty what you would expect frm a klutz book. Easy to follow concise instructions. Easy instructions and easy to do are not the same thing, this is a very time consuming activity. It takes a bit to get the hang of it and then a good little bit of time to do the entire wrap. Granted my girls have very, very long hair. If the idea looks fun to you then you will like the book.

Great! - Pete Cats - Massachusetts
We love the Klutz books. Many of them are in our household and each one is fabulous. The hair wraps are explained very well and there are great patterns.
Love it!

Hair Wraps - Debra A. Miller - South Carolina, USA
Hair Wraps. This is a great kit for girls to learn to wrap hair, but if you're a grown up and you want to do it, it's very hard, especially if you have problems with your hands and doing small things. I think it's great for teen girls.

clear, easy to read text - S. Marsh - jacksonville, fl
very clear instructions with lots of pictures. text is large font and easy to read. purchased for my 11 year old daughter. She enjoyed it, though she hasn't tried to actually make any hair wraps yet.

Invasion of the Bristlebots (Klutz) Review

It's definitely worth picking up for kids that are into science. It was quite easy to use and amusing to tinker with. It made my nephew curious about doing it himself -- just the goal I had in mind!

Invasion of the Bristlebots (Klutz) Overview

Invasion of the Bristlebots comes with two mini-robots — basically motorized toothbrush heads. These guys zoom around like caffeinated cockroaches, spinning, skittering, and bouncing off walls. Resistance is futile. The book bristles with ideas for robot games and activities. Race robots against each other. Use the included punch-out walls to construct a Bristlebot maze. Stage a robot sumo-wrestling match. You can even customize your Bots with the provided wire legs, feelers, and beady eyes. And just when you thought the robot invasion was under control, stick the tiny motors (technical name: Klutz Robotivators) on any lightweight contraptions of your own design to make pipe cleaner Bots, plastic fork Bots, paper clip Bots — basically, whatever-you’ve-got Bots. On YouTube, dedicated tinkerers show off motorized toothbrush heads that are pretty darned impressive. Researchers at Klutz Laboratories (the folks who brought you Battery Science and LEGO Crazy Action Contraptions) have sacrificed countless toothbrushes to develop high-performance Bristlebots with more zip, wilder action, and a control that lets you adjust a Bot’s behavior. It’s a brand-new Botastic world.

Customer Reviews

Fun while it lasted - J. Pies - USA
I bought these for my boys. They were very easy to put together and the boys had a blast playing with them. Then, suddenly one would no longer work. We tried changing the batteries with no luck. Now one boy has a working bristlebot and the other has a broken heart. As if things weren't bad enough, when I went online to try to find a solution to the dead bot, I found out that Klutz had stolen the idea from someone else.

perfect gift! - Penelope - california
Bought this toy based on price and description. It was a gift for my nephew, and I crossed my fingers that he'd like it. It was a hit! The whole family loved it!

great gift idea - Deborah Barandiaran - Portsmouth, RI
