The Last Holiday Concert Review

The last Holiday Concert

The title of the book I read was The Last Holiday Concert the author is Andrew Clements. This book takes place in a music room and at his school.

Evens, Hart, Evens

Evens, Hart, Evens have you heard that name before, well Hart Evens is the most popular kid in his grade, and in Harts music class he has done something he is going to regret. He also has been voted to be the new music teacher. So Hart is going to have to do a concert all by him self. But he has some friends on his side.

Liked or disliked

I liked this book because it surprised me every time I flipped the page. For example when Hart had one problem there went another problem. So Hart had to get everybody in shape and get started because he only had 2 ½ weeks left. I really liked the author words, hears some examples. Hart is kind of a bully but not much. He is very popular. He is in the 6th grade and a risk taker by flicking a rubber band at his teacher.

Rubber Band attack

Hart is in the 6th grade. He is very cool, he has lots of friends. He got to be music teacher because, he flung a rudder band at his teacher and the teacher got fed up with him and the class. So he quit and let them figure it out for them selfs. So the class voted hart teacher for now.

The boom

The Last Holiday Concert Overview

Winterhope.

It didn't sound like much, but it was a big idea. A very big idea.

It all started when Hart Evans zinged a rubber band that hit Mr. Meinert, the chorus director. Actually, it started before that, when Mr. Meinert learned he was out of a job because the town budget couldn't afford music and art teachers. Mr. Meinert got so mad at Hart that he told the sixth graders he'd had it -- they could produce the big holiday concert on their own. Or not. It was all up to them.

What happens when a teacher steps aside and lets the kids run the show? Not what Mr. Meinert would have predicted. And not what Hart Evans would have guessed, not at all.

Out of chaos, infighting, compromise, idealism, and finally, a fragile peace, the sixth grade choral concert was born. And they called it Winterhope.

But would it be the last holiday concert of them all?

Hart gets in trouble a lot. He is a moving kid. His parents are divorced. The one who loves him the most still loves him at the end.
I think that if you love band, this book will be good for you. Hart has surprises waiting for you. So remember to read The Last Holiday Concert by Andrew Clements.

Another great one! - Lydia Groen - New Hampshire USA
I'm an adult, but I still love Andrew Clements' engaging writing style and creative storytelling. One thing I appreciate about Clements' writing is that it's continually unpredictable - I was sure I knew which direction this particular story was going, but in the end, I was surprised! Without giving away the plotline, I thought the story was very realistic. Definitely read the author's note at the end, too!

This book was great. Hart Evens shot a ruber band smack on his chorus teacher. His teacher gets angry and decides to relax instead. So Hart Evens has to be the chorus director of the holiday concert. Hart's friends get mad at him because he can not fit everyone's ideas into the concert. They took a vote to decide what ideas to fit into the concert and what ideas to leave out. In the end, the children involved with the concert learned how to cooperate with each other.
