Draw Write Now, Book 6: Animals Habitats -- On Land, Pond & Rivers, Oceans (Draw-Write-Now) Review

As a 1st Grade teacher, I have a wide range of reading and handwriting abilities. Keeping them all motivated can be a challenge. I have yet to meet a child, however, who will not jump at the chance to draw. I have the Draw Write Now series and am anxiously awaiting Book 7. No matter what the child's level, they can experience instant success in this program. The step-by-step directions are clear and easily understood. I find that after the writing and drawing, the students are motivated to extend their lesson with other reading and writing experiences, as well as with a variety of art projects.

Draw Write Now, Book 6: Animals Habitats -- On Land, Pond & Rivers, Oceans (Draw-Write-Now) Overview

Beginning drawing and writing lessons for children ages five to ten. BOOK 6 focuses on animal habitats - land, freshwater, and saltwater. Children use the books independently, or a teacher or parent may present the lessons. Each drawing lesson includes a colorful picture and step-by-step drawing instructions, while the writing lesson includes four simple handwritten sentences with handwriting guidelines. The teacher or parent may introduce letter formation or have the children copy the sentences for handwriting practice, using any alphabet style. The lessons are also used as a springboard for creative writing or report writing. A brief list of the 21 lessons in the book includes robin, monarch butterfly, jackrabbit, lizard, frog, salmon, eel, hermit crab, heron, shark, dolphin, angler fish.

Super series - Theboyzmomie - NC USA
I love this series. My son (6) hates to practice writing but this made it fun for him. He loves drawing and the directions are so easy for him to follow. We have a whole "gallery" going down the hallway. We give him drawing paper for the picture and then tape the handwriting paper to the bottom so the description stays with the drawing. I think it will be great to pull them out years from now and see how he's progressed - that's if I can ever take them off the wall!
I would recommend this series to anyone!
