Mermaid Things To Make And Do (Activity Books) Review
I am the mother of a 4-year old mermaid. I pre-ordered this book sight unseen. I thought I had made just about every ocean-related craft out there, and then this wonderful book came along.
It's too bad that Amazon has still not posted a photo of the book cover. The entire book is whimisical and brightly illustrated and full of pinks, greens, yellows, etc. The crafts themselves include a necklace made from a paper plate, tiaras, sparkly mermaid paper dolls, seahorse pencil toppers, and others. Most of the crafts are made of paper or cardboard, but I think craft foam could also be used instead. The book even has 200 shine mermad sticks "to add extra shimmer to everything you make."
At .95, I think this book is priced EXTREMELY low considering the content. It is worth so much more.

There are three great things about this book. The first is the price. The second is that the activities are simple enough for the average person can actually do them and make them look decent. Sometimes the examples in craft books are so cute but once you do them, they look awful. Such is not the case here. The third great thing is that the activities generally do not call for ridiculous materials. They're all pretty basic kids craft or around-the-house items.

My granddaughter is 6 and likes all things mermaids, this was one of the items I enclosed in her birthday gift bag along with mermaid books, a mermaid barbie, mermaid tatoo(removable), a mermaid night gown and a mermaid bracelet I was unable to be there but my son video taped her opening each one, she was delighted, if her shivering and squeals were anything to go by. Mermaid Activity Book - A. Main - Texas
This is a really neat book of mermaid and ocean-related crafts. I purchased this for my 5-year old daughter who loves mermaids. I think she will enjoy all the craft projects in the book, but I do not think she will be able to do any of them without significant assistance from me. There are many crafts that say to draw something (like a mermaid, fish, seahorse, etc) and cut it out. However, there are not really instructions for how to draw the pictures. I think this would be a fun book for younger children who have someone to help them with each project, and a great book for older children to work on more independently.
